WHEREAS, several Board members, for their own reasons, did not attend this meeting, resulting in the lack of a quorum and the failure to pass the operating budget;
WHEREAS, without an approved budget, students, staff, and faculty are uncertain about having the necessary equipment, support, resources, and proper maintenance to carry out the University's mission;
WHEREAS, failure to conduct the University's business may adversely affect our efforts at accreditation;
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, that the Faculty Senate of The University of West Alabama expresses its gratitude to those Board members who fulfilled their duties to our University by attending the regularly scheduled Board meeting and conducting the University's business. While recognizing there are many legitimate reasons for a Board member to miss a meeting, the Faculty Senate of The University of West Alabama expresses deep concern over those members who failed to fulfill their sworn duties and responsibilities and, instead, placed personal agendas above the needs of the University.
We hope that all Board members, whatever their differences, will put the interests of the University first.
