UWA Faculty Senate Minutes Date: May 29, 2000 Time: 3:00 p.m. Presiding: Dr. R.T. Floyd Secretary: Ms. Shannon White (for Dr. Neil Snider)
Present: Dr. Alan Brown for Mrs. Tina Jones, Dr. Richard Schellhammer, Dr. Gary Stone for Mr. Bill Lenning, Mr. Micky Smith, Dr. Janis Beaird, Mr. Richard Thurn, Mr. Charlie Cook, Mr. James Todd, Mrs. Donna Miller, Mrs. Tricia Taylor, Dr. Manley Blackwell, Dr. Gene May, Dr. Neil Snider, Dr. Carole Smith and Ms. Shannon White. Dr. Floyd brought forth the issue of the Faculty Senate expressing to the University Board of Trustees its support of the current administration and its progress. Dr. Floyd stated that he had compiled ideas from various people concerning the issue and drafted a letter to the University Board concerning these issues. He then asked the Faculty Senate to discuss their desires on the stated issue. After much discussion the Faculty Senate drafted a letter addressed to Mr. Terry Bunn, Chairman of Board. Ms. Shannon White made a motion to vote on sending the letter as re-written to Mr. Bunn. Mr. Jim Todd seconded the motion. Dr. Floyd called for a vote. All members present voted in the affirmative to send the letter to Mr. Bunn. There were no opposition votes or votes in absentia. May 29, 2000 Mr. Terry Bunn Dear Terry: The Faculty Senate, in its meeting today, voted to relay to the UWA Board of Trustees its appreciation for the significant progress made under the current administration. We are particularly appreciative of the fund raising initiatives in technology, which greatly enhance the faculty's ability to meet its responsibilities of teaching, research, and service. We believe that these advances are critical to the University in maintaining its accreditation in the College of Education, College of Business, and Division of Nursing, as well as the University. We also want to express our appreciation to the Board in its support of the Technology 2000 campaign. Furthermore, we look forward to working with the administration in bringing about the best years yet for UWA. Please let us know of anything we can do to assist in furthering the mission and stability of the University.
