UWA FACULTY SENATE MINUTES
Thursday, June 19, 2003 - 1:30 p.m.

Roll Call
Dr. Janis Beaird called this special session to
order at 1:35 pm on June 19, 2003, in Room 213 of Wallace Hall. Members present
were Dr. Richard Collison, Dr. Louis Smith, Dr. Richard Buckner, Mr. Jim Todd,
Dr. Nancy Kudlawiec, Dr. Lesa Shaul, Mr. Mark Brothers, Dr. Richard Schellhammer,
Dr. Mark Griffith, Dr. Tom Gonzalez, Dr. Gary Stone, and Mr. Howell Sheffield.
II. Order of Business for Special
Session
After distributing copies of a draft of the
no-confidence resolution, Dr. Beaird opened the floor for dialogue. Dr. Collison
questioned the urgency of this document, and Dr. Beaird replied that all
indications from upper-level administration point to expeditious action. After
brief discussion, the members voiced their individual approval of the resolution
as drafted, and then Dr. Collison moved that the group accept the resolution.
Mr. Todd seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
At that point, the faculty senators extended their
votes on behalf of their respective departments. Dr. Louis Smith, representing
the Department of Foundations and Secondary Education, abstained from the vote.
With the exception of Dr. Smith’s abstention, the resolution passed unanimously
III. Adjournment
There being no further business, Dr. Griffith moved
that the special session be adjourned, and Mr. Todd seconded this motion. The
meeting was adjourned at 1:40 p.m.
